Little trip to Bangkok

You can never go wrong with Bangkok. Party like there is no tomorrow , enjoy the mouth watering food, indulge in cheap everyday massages and Shop until you drop at MBK and Siam square. What’s not to love? Maybe even get a boob job or Botox while you are there. Quality treatments at affordable prices. ( not that I got any πŸ˜‚ )

Candy floss cocktail at one of Bangkok’s most interesting bars, 20’s inspired atmosphere at Maggie choo’s in Silom.

Then on to some dancing at sing sing theater in my very short illuminous yellow and blue striped dress (which I would only really dare wear in Bangkok) sorry picture is a little blurry, only one I had of my dress.

The evidence of the aftermath

8 dishes between 2 people is slightly overindulgent but when the food is this good..

I suggest to order tom yum soup with shrimp, Thai green curry with chicken, fried pork and mango sticky rice. Thai food = taste explosion in your mouth.

Diet another time. As you can see from this picture I have put on some weight 😒 fat bulging out everywhere πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ But what to do? Just gotta work with it.Enjoying life sometimes means putting on some weight. Soon to come: How to get back in shape while still enjoying life to the max. This post will come when I figure out how to do that exactly πŸ˜‚

How to travel solo in Rio

I just got back from Rio de Janeiro last night and once again I can say it was a trip of a lifetime. Although people try to discourage me from traveling alone I persevere with the choice I make and believe in a thing called “independence”. I don’t think you have really experienced traveling until you do it alone. Yes there are many potentially negative sides to it : danger, boredom, lonesomeness to name a few. However you are in charge of making your holiday what you want it to be. If you don’t want Danger, go to safe places, if you don’t want to experience boredom, get up and do something, if you feel lonely go talk to some people. Traveling on your own you create the holiday you desire. However for you to enjoy a solo holiday you do need to have certain characteristics, the following in my opinion are the most important: Positive attitude, independence, spontaneousness and last but not least being a yes person. So if you have these characteristics take the initiative and do it and I promise you will never look back. So here are some pics from my vacation.

I stayed in a hostel called el misti in IpanemaΒ check it out, a very safe area in Rio. I was recommended to stay here by a friend and it was very good place to stay indeed.

I would say if you are traveling alone you should stay in a hostel as you meet people easier this way. This doesn’t mean you must stay in a dorm, you can also choose a private room which will give you some privacy. Best however is to split it up, 4 nights dorm, 2 night private room. This way you give your body and soul a break from the craziness from time to time.

On Rio’s famous beaches. Go to Ipanema beach. It’s better than Copacabana, just less crowded and touristy. Still touristy but not as much. Of course don’t bring many valuables to the beach if you plan on leaving your stuff unattended.Or if you persist, bury it in the sand, but know where you buried it haha

Slight nerves before the flight πŸ˜‚

Hangliding, yes scary stuff but totally worth it. Not as bad as it looks. Take a risk you will love it. For me holidays are not about lying at a beach so if you are like me and always looking for something more exciting, give this a shot. Don’t waste your holiday on just boozing and beach, try some new things that you would never do at home.

I mean you kinda have to go and see the Christ while you are there but I wouldn’t say it’s the best thing in Rio. Also because a lot of times you go up in can be too cloudy to even see the Christ. I prefer the sugar loaf ( view from sugar loaf in second pic), as many others do as well. So if you are pressed for time, choose the sugar loaf.

Yes, I love being active, specially on my holidays because I have the time to practice sports I don’t normally practice. Skateboarding I do enjoy from time to time and it is very popular in Rio, especially along the beach or on the lagoon. It also helps to clear that hangover. πŸ˜‰

Nothing like cachaca on the beach. Supposedly helps to clear a cold. Mmh I’m doubtful about that but definitely did make me feel better mentally but not physically haha.

The slums of Rio. Rocinha, the biggest slum in South America. You can’t see Rio without coming here. A must-see in my opinion. Of course I would not recommend you coming here by yourself ( although it did actually enter my brain πŸ˜‚ because I’m a bit like that) I am very glad I didn’t though. I went with a tour, which makes you feel safe, but not only that you get all the background and inside knowledge of the place. Therefore you will really get to understand how things work there. You will see guns, wild kids and general poverty. Hence if you are feeling adventurous and like a bit of Danger, come here, but most definitely with a tour. The chances of you getting shot otherwise would be significantly higher, I imagine πŸ˜‰

White sneakers. Yes please!

Where I come from we call these Runners but to be a bit universal I will say Sneakers  πŸ˜‚

We are all buying them right now. They are comfortable, classic and go with anything. I bought my Nikes on my last trip to San Francisco as the USA is the best place to buy Nike.

Yes hard to keep clean, but totally worth it. Best buy in a long time.

Photoshoot in the desert! Why not? πŸ˜‚

I will tell you why not! Β πŸ˜‚ Because it is HOT as hell. However we did manage to fight through the sweat and exhaustion and get some nice shots.

Black on black. Sophisticated, elegant and free. Mysterious Gypsy meets serene desert.

And now to something more colourful. A more “Jazzy” outfit like we are used to.πŸ˜‚

Now these shoes I love but I can never wear on a “normal” occasion. Invisible stilettos with black ribbons to tie all the way up your legs. I bought them in that vintage shop in Toronto, which I mentioned in a previous post. Devine shop, devine shoes!

Here we are again with my silk scarves from China, so multi-versatile. Absolutely great for Photoshoots 😍

Well that was all for today. Hope you enjoyed and just a shout out to my friend and photographerΒ Gianmarco GiorgiΒ who made this shoot happen

Welcome to Paradise

I’m up very early today as I can’t seem to sleep any longer for some reason so why not write a post on paradise and of course what to wear in paradise πŸ˜€

Favourite swimwear right now is leopard print bathing suit. Leopard print works well for Brunettes and red heads. Stay away if you are blonde as it can look a bit cheap sometimes. And yes it is ok to wear pattern on pattern. Wherever the mood takes you, you are on vacation and rules don’t apply πŸ˜‚

I’m all about the bathing suit right now, so done with the bikini. 😎

I mean is this paradise or what? It’s not called paradise island for no reason. Can you take a guess where this paradise island is located?

Happy discoveries

Travelling solo through Cuba

Hello! I am back!

First day I am having today where I can relax at home and peacefully complete a post on my blog. Good times πŸ™‚

I just got back from a trip to Cuba so I will give you some insights on traveling to Cuba and of course on traveling by yourself as a girl/women. I should really say women at this point but for some reason I still feel like a girl haha maybe one day.

Cuba is amazing and if you have the chance to see it, please go! It’s very different to many places in the world and I honestly believe it is quite a unique place in comparison to many places that I have been to.

Number 1: THE CARS!!!! Just amazing to see these Cadillacs spinning around Havana andΒ  around the most remote areas of Cuba. Taking a hike through the stunning country side of Cuba outside Vinales and Trinidad and seeing one of these babies pop up every now and again just blew my mind every time. A lilac/white old-timer passing by me with a backdrop of luscious green jungle and mountains is just a phenomenal site to see.

I think my outfit matches the car very well here haha Barbie all the way! ❀

Number 2: STUCK IN TIME: Everything is like it was 50 odd years ago, specially in the countryside. Public phones where people cue up in a line to use, no Internet except in certain public spaces and you need to buy cards to use it, so in general just not very well connected. The use of Horses to carry people and things, the pace of life is extremely slow! (I was waiting at the bus stop at a “fast”food place for some fried chicken for nearly 40 minutes, I told him I don’t want to miss my bus, however he was still moving in slow motion, it was painful to watch haha)

However nice to see for a holiday, to live here no! I would not have the patience.

A lot of Horse riding was done. I was galloping by the end of the trip. Keep in mind I dont know how to ride horses.

The real cowboys are not to be found in Texas but in Cuba haha

Farm animals everywhere. They really have a good life here running around freely. Any Vegetarian would be happy to see this.

The supermarket! Shocker!

enjoying the slow pace of life. Loved the porches and rocking chairs. whole families just sit out here all day and night watching the life go by. Work is not really a thing here haha But You can’t really blame them if the average monthly wage is only 20 us $.

Jungle, Beaches, Mountains. It has it all. A paradise for Hikers and Divers alike.

I did snorkeling which was very nice. Saw all sorts of colourful fishes from lilac to rainbow coloured.

Always a beer in hand or a coconut. Just the way it should be at a beach πŸ˜‰ Getting my tan on big time here.

How cute are these houses? little colourful houses like these all over the countryside of cuba

You cannot get away from Rum! No matter how hard you try it will always make it’s way into your body somehow. People offer you Rum from morning to night and I’m talking straight Rum directly from the bottle. For Breakfast, during Horse riding, Hiking, at the beach, in people’s houses. You will leave this country feeling like an alcoholic so be prepared as it is rude to say no to rum πŸ™‚

And let’s not forget about the Cigars!

Lime Green yey! Party in a cave yey!

Beer for a change πŸ˜‰ check out my very cuban outfit

Now as to traveling solo. It is awesome and everybody should do it at least once in their life. You meet people everywhere so you are not really alone anyways, but you just feel a bit more independent and exhilarated traveling by yourself. The only negative thing is be prepared to get harassed by cuban men and people selling you all sorts of shit. Things in general are more challenging and exciting at the same time. I didn’t plan anything in advance as that is the way I like to travel. Also I travel standby so there is not much planning you can do with that lol

If you guys have any questions to Cuba or traveling alone just comment below

Until next time xxx

When your brain says yes but your soul says no

Hello dear followers,

Today I decided to write about something more deeper than fashion. The sensation of your soul. There comes a time when everybody has gut feelings/ inner senses about something and has to make a decision on whether or not to follow these senses.

Last week I made a very important life decision which was not to get married to my then long-term partner. He was perfect for me in many ways but something was holding me back from getting excited about the idea of marriage. This was something I wanted I thought for a long time, but I guess after 10 years I grew bored of the idea and all I desired at this stage was freedom

( freedom of my soul to be specific) don’t get me wrong, he was never possessive or jealous in anyway. I could go/ do whatever I wanted when I wanted within moral grounds of course. I was practically by myself as we were doing long distance but for some reason I craved even more distance. Maybe it was due to long distance or loving my personal life too much that our relationship ended. Or maybe he really was not the right guy for me or maybe even he was but then life had different plans for me. Not too sure all I knew was that I needed to end it now without even having a valid reason to end it except for the fact that I felt my inner instincts saying get out of this while you can.

One week later and I am still feeling confident and strong about the decision I made. I went through 3 weeks of intense indecisiveness that really caused havoc to my body. No sleep, non stop thinking, anxiety, binge eating, heart palpitations, vomiting, no concentration on anything all I could do was to try numb the anxiety by going out partying/ drinking/ eating. But once I made that all important decision in my head, everything felt ok again. I felt peaceful. Tears of joy came over me and I wrote a diary entry ( I don’t even keep a diary) to mark that important day in my life.

I feel excited about life and at the same time peaceful in my soul knowing that I am giving it what it so desperately craves.

Have you guys made any life changing decisions lately and do you tend to go with your brain or your gut instincts when making these decisions?
